Whew! Week 1. Congratulations. It happened, it worked , it was great. You pulled together and made it a smooth start to the season. Way to go!

Scott grew up at Sky Tavern, (Dad was the Board Chair) is a graduate of Brooks Academy of Film, and now started Wild Mustang Creative production company. Kate takes the coolest pictures and cleans tables without being asked. We are keeping her! They will be skiing around capturing smiling faces this season. Wave!

Week 1 wasn’t perfect, it never will be, Sky Tavern has the population of a small city, but it was pretty close. I have said it a million times, parking sets the tone for the day. Drew and the crew kept the flow going and you did your part too. Being Sky Tavern, I thanked Drew by backing into his truck with my truck while trying to pull GM Mike’s truck out of the snowbank. $#%^ happens around here.

Week 2 coming up. Winter is back. Sky pulled off a high school race on Wednesday but just barely with the winds at 50 plus. The kids only got a single run in and then called their parents for a ride out of here. Eight inches of snow fell Wednesday night with more, maybe a lot more coming over the next week.

The schedule for February 17-20.

17-18th, Saturday & Sunday. Week 2 for the Jr Ski Program.

17-18th. Women's Clinics at 1 pm in the Aspens. For women by women to improve your skiing and riding. Have Dad watch the kids and go, Mom!

19th, Monday, Presidents Day. Bring a Friend Day. More info below.

19th, Monday at 7AM! High School State Finals Race 1

20th, Tuesday at 9 AM. High School State Finals Race 2

February 19^th. Monday, Presidents Day.

We call it Bring a Friend Day

This is a day you can show Sky Tavern off to your friends and family. The lifts get turned on at 9 and run to 4. There are no lessons and if you, as a member, bring up your friends or family, they can ski too. In most seasons you have a few more weeks of Sky Tavern under your belt for this day and have spent hours talking about it at work. For 2024 it is Week 2, and the weather may be a bit wintery. Still fun and the day stories are made of.

A heads up for returning members. We are not going to hold the dinner event on Sunday night as in the past. We will keep that money in the left pocket and use it for a party at the end of the season. 

$60 adult nonmember tickets $40 kid nonmember tickets Free for all 2024 Sky Tavern members including all START and High School Racers.

Certified Instructors. The Moms and Dads in the traffic cone orange coats.

These are the instructors with advanced tricks to get kids riding and skiing to the level of movies. Many of them will be taking a clinic from the National Team this weekend to get better at instructing on their own dime. All are passionate and dedicated to the whole idea of kids on snow and off video games. If you have a child struggling to get to the next level, ask one of them to help. Your child is why they are at Sky volunteering and not working at Northstar for loot. Candy bar bribes are accepted. Phil here likes Snickers.

There will be non-tele folks on the hill for a company event also.

General Manager Mike Oehlert’s birthday is today, February 15^th. It is one of “those’ birthdays, significant and memorable. Around here these birthdays come with a tradition involving pies in your face. It is just not fair that someone so important, respected, and loved at Sky Tavern has this birthday on a day when the kids are in school and Sky is not running.

Proclamation:

As February 15, 2024, is a significant birthday of Sky Tavern General Manager Mike Oehlert having reached an age ending in zero, therefore a significant day for the kids of Sky Tavern. As the kids of Sky Tavern need to share in this celebration appropriately honoring the traditions of Sky Tavern, Saturday, February 17, 2024 shall be the day of celebration and action by the kids of Sky Tavern.
